WHAT DOES ASASOFT DO?

ASAsoft is a technology company whose products are used for power distribution in order to:

  1. reduce the carbon intensity and
  2. improve the durability and safety of power infrastructure.

ASAsoft designs, type tests, develops, and sells products that improve upon existing power distribution grid products. The company’s current core product is a Lightweight Insulator which offers immense benefits when compared with traditional insulators.

ASAsoft’s Lightweight Insulators are advantageous because they have self-cleaning capabilities, they are proven to withstand temperatures ranging from -80 to 55 degrees Celsius, and they have a predictable lifespan. ASAsoft contract manufactures its products in partnership with the Aditya Birla Group, the company’s exclusive partner for contract manufacturing. ABG is the largest manufacturer of power distribution insulators on the planet.

With its ultra-new “low-carbon” Lightweight Insulator products, ASAsoft plans to reproduce its previously demonstrated commercial success in the North American market, with jobs and benefits flowing to British Columbia through the latest CSA and ANSI certified and approved Smartcity ready products and manufacturing geared towards industry 4.0 best practices. ASAsoft’s Lightweight Insulators reduce power outages by up to 70%, reduce line maintenance costs by up to 50%, reduce solid and liquid waste up to 99%, are 6.6 times lighter, and cost less than traditional insulators.

ASAsoft:

  • designs, type tests, develops, and sells products that improve upon existing power distribution grid products
  • produces durable products that are superior to traditional, ceramic insulators
  • manufactures insulators using KortickASA corrosion resistance ArmorGalv® technology
  • offers new “low-carbon” Lightweight Insulator products
  • works primarily with large power utilities companies
WHY DOES ASASOFT DO WHAT THEY DO?

ASAsoft’s Lightweight Insulators make the power distribution grid more secure, durable, and safe. The physical characteristics of the company’s insulators make them highly suitable for extreme weather. Additionally, ASAsoft’s high level of mechanical perfection makes the products very reliable compared to alternatives.

Partnered with Kortick Mfg Company in California, ASAsoft is specially poised to utilize its immense field experience gathered to develop truly innovative products. Additionally, the ASAsoft 2.0 insulator uses The United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Most Valuable Pollution Prevention (MVP2) award-winning KortickASA corrosion resistance ArmorGalv® technology in its metal parts.

ASAsoft plans to exploit two key market opportunities. The first is replacing existing infrastructure. The timing for these efforts is opportune as a large portion of the North American Transmission and Distribution industry, the backbone of North America’s power system, requires recurring investment in infrastructure. The existing installed infrastructure (45% of the total system) is aging and at or beyond its scheduled service lifetime. The second is general market size growth. As populations grow and consume more power, there is a concomitant increased need for overhead power lines for electricity distribution. This opportunity is sized at roughly 5% growth per year.

WHERE IS ASASOFT?

ASAsoft is headquartered in Victoria, BC. Through partnerships with the University of Victoria, the University of British Columbia, and Camosun College, the company is highly active with students and researchers at the undergraduate, master’s, and PhD levels.

ASASOFT’S CLIENTS

ASAsoft has secured a major North American customer for Lightweight Insulators in high voltage gear for North America’s largest power utilities. This key customer provided a Letter Of Intent in December of 2016, subject to developing a special Lightweight Insulator that was to be designed, developed, and tested at a third-party accredited Canadian facility to outperform the then-existing standard. ASAsoft developed this product in a record 12-month period and the product is now approved for deployment and ready for commercial production.

With large utilities and power providers as clients, ASAsoft tends to service few clients, but to focus on those whose business affects large geographical areas and sizeable populations for high impact.
