Sustainable Development Technology Canada’s Role in Cleantech Funding

In season two, episode seven of Cleantech Talks, host and Alacrity Canada senior advisor Peter Van Der Gracht talks to Rustam Sengupta, Investment Lead at Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC), about how the organization helps fund and support the growth of innovative Canadian clean technology companies.

This episode was recorded in the fall of 2020.

Sustainable Development Technology Canada, often referred to as SDTC, supports the growth of Canadian clean technology solutions that tackle some of the world’s most critical environmental issues, such as climate change, clean air, clean water, and clean soil. The independent federal foundation and flagship program focuses on providing seed, start-up, and scale-up funding to companies that have the potential to address these issues through their innovations. The organization focuses specifically on small- and medium-sized Canadian businesses that are pre-commercial, helping them access the funding and resources needed to develop and grow.

Rustam Sengupta is SDTC’s west coast representative. He also spends his time contributing to the evolution of the Canadian cleantech space as an Adjunct Professor at the Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability at the University of British Columbia.
